A Fantabulous Bathrobe

Somehow I've gotten it into my head that it is a noble goal to be classy even in the early mornings when all you want to do is roll over and groan because why am I up before the sun??? Actually, I need that extra glamour to get going. When early mornings and bad hair days threaten to send me back to bed, a bathrobe worthy of Audrey Hepburn comes to the rescue.

This entire project was a blast: creating it, because it was super simple and bathrobes make me happy, and the photo shoot, because friends, Audrey-style, and laughter are always a good mix.

The vision for the project was found here (hooray for Pinterest!), drapey, over-sized, and boxy. Comfort is sleeves that reach your knuckles, enough fabric to function as a blanket if needed, and protection from the early morning/ late night "cold". But the retro pattern, black and white color scheme, and cinching tie, give it class.

I had my doubts about this project because I didn't know how to draft a pattern for something so unlike my bodice sloper. In the end, I guessed a lot, traced out a general neckline with the help of my sloper, and cut with my fingers crossed.

Hooray for simple sleeves! No circular armhole, no sleeve cap worries, and no extra fabric that appeared out of nowhere! Straight lines are amazing, aren't they?

This is definitely a forever-piece in my minimalist closet. :)
