Satisfaction From Unfailing Love
Not many people make impossible requests. If you're going to the trouble to ask someone to do something for you, it would make sense to ask for something that wasn't out of the realm of possibility. This psalmist asks God to satisfy him with His love. Complete and utter satisfaction is possible simply from God's unfailing love. Of course it is, He is the God of love. He has created us for Himself. Of course he, and only he, would be able to satisfy us.
But how often am I really satisfied? How often do I remember his unfailing love for more than just the morning? How often do I sing for joy all day every day? Not often enough.
I guess the comfort in all this, (because there has to a silver lining in every cloud!) is that I'm not dead yet. I have the rest of my life to keep trying to hold on to that unfailing love a little longer each day. Just keep keeping on. God still loves me. Oh joy! Can we think about that for a moment? How God still loves those poor souls who spend their whole lives trying to get something right? Isn't it lovely that he not only accepts them but helps them even more?
I'm putting this at the top of the "Pink Lifestyle" to-do list. Above sustainable fashion, above chemical-free beauty, above reading novels, above minimalism. Those are all great things, but I'd hate to get them and my purpose mixed up. I wasn't put here to save the planet, buy less stuff, or enjoy words. I was put here to love God and to love people. I've got to put him at the top of every list.
Accepting imperfection is kind of a theme over here. But when it comes to faith, you have to accept both the fact that you'll never make it to perfect Christian status and the fact that you can't ever stop trying to get there.
This right here is a big reason that I'm a Christian. Christ promises me what I can't live without: peace. He gives me the secret to contentment. He gives me the keys to joy. I may not have it yet, but I have caught glimpses of it, and that has given me strength to keep searching, to keep trying.
So in short, I just wanted to remind you that perfect joy is out there waiting for you today. I don't have to know what you're going through, what you're dealing with, or what you're feeling. God is bigger than all of that.
"If he can stop the waves of the ocean with just one touch, then he can stop the waves of my emotion with just one touch, and he has time and time again. When you feel overwhelmed, just reach to him."
