Closet Minimalist Stories Ep. 2 - Summer Shorts

There are days when your closet looks especially bland. But if you're living by the "one in, one out" rule, and you don't have a mall nearby anyway, then D.I.Y is your only option. I was inspired by my dream closet Pinterest board and the tragic state of my favorite parachute pants. (The seams were falling apart in all the wrong places. :( ) After digging through my fabric tub, I pulled out the perfect combo: olive green and cream. Like any decent capsule wardrobe conscious person, I double checked the colors with all of my shirts. If it's going to be a part of the Core Ten, it needs to make at least as many outfits as the previous piece. Check, check, check! It fits in even better than my parachute pants!

I realized half-way through this project that I really don't have much experience with shorts. So, all things considered, I'm fairly satisfied with how they turned out. The best, best part is that they go with literally everything in my closet because they are reversible. Note: If your mom tells you that reversible shorts are probably not as easy as you think they are going to be, please listen to her. I realized she was right the hard way. :)

As you can see, there are many different things you can do to tweak the look of these shorts. You can turn them inside out, roll up the cuff, tuck the shirt in, or leave it out.

I sew my own fashion because there isn't a person in the world like me, so why should I dress like them? It's hard to find exactly what you want in stores, but if you limit yourself only to imagination and current skill level, the world of unique fashion opens right up. It gives you the freedom to dress in reflection of who you are at your very center. Are you funny? Are you loving?  Are you vintage, classic, bohemian, or modern? Are you known by Jesus?

I like to rule over fashion instead of fashion ruling me. Trends, celebrities, red carpets, and even Paris can't chain me up, they can only fuel the inspiration for creating my unique wardrobe.

Happy fashion-creating y'all!
