Fashion, meet Jesus
Fashion, Jesus. Jesus, Fashion. Everybody all acquainted now? Good. Now let's keep it that way.
Have you ever had two best friends that you loved so much but they didn't get along real well? Faith and fashion often seem to be those friends.
But faith is a part of who I am, and so fashion has taken a new form in my life. It's no longer about getting attention, or changing something about myself, or becoming beautiful; it's about creating something to express my love for the Father. To show that I, we, are already beautiful creations, that we belong to the Creator.
So often I see people whose heart is breaking because our culture has preached to the millions that there is a perfect beauty and not everyone has it. This lie is crazy dangerous because it isn't spelled out in black and white. It's in pictures, magazines, the idea of "social media worthy", blemish modifiers, Photoshop, and celebrities.
I say no! NO!! YOU ARE GORGEOUS GIRL!! Not because of your hair, makeup, or shoes, but because of your heart, your personality, your love for others. That's what makes you special. That's what makes you you. And me me. That's what makes you beautiful. :)
So, yes. Fashion and Jesus can and should mix. Unless, of course, you honestly don't care what you wear. But for the rest of us unfortunate folks, we will be bringing our bffs to the shopping mall, the magazine stand, and our social media.
