A Real-Life Fairy GODmother
We've all grown up hearing fairytales, a.k.a. stories of success. If it's not a poor kind young woman going to a royal ball, falling in love, and finding a prince who loves her as she truly is, it's a young ambitious person who climbed to the top of the ladder and is now a millionaire. Or, maybe you have read about those people like Clara Barton, Abraham Lincoln, or Eleanor Roosevelt, and how they changed the world with their service to mankind.
Years ago, you would point to them and tell your people that you would do the same thing: change the world.
Why don't we say that now?
Is it because you don't think you are talented enough? Is it because you don't have enough money to go to the best schools or travel to places that are hurting? Is it because your idea isn't 'practical' or accepted in our culture? Is it because you don't have the right connections? Live in the middle of nowhere? Is it because F A I R Y T A L E S don't exist?
Oh, but they do, they do.
Our God is a God of f a i r y t a l e s. (Just writing that makes my girlish heart happy) How many stories are there in Bible where the main character is nothing and God works through him to touch hundreds of lives? How many times does God use those without any worldly talent or resource for his glory? Pretty much every single Bible story. So, there's no doubt that he can, but will he?
Why not?
How often do we say:"How great is our God!?" If he's so great, I think he can take any obstacle you throw at him and still give you a fairy tale ending. What would our world be like if each and every one of us decided to try to change the world for God's glory? How many people could you reach if you specifically tried to reach out to every one who came your way? How could you impact our culture if you became a celebrity after God's heart? Don't make God seem smaller than the mountains you need to cross in order to love as many as you can.
God can do big things. Let him use you to do E N O R M O U S things.
Thomas Edison once said: "Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."
I want to encourage you to open the doors of opportunity that you have closed and let God close them for you. Even if it is most likely that you will not succeed. Who knows how close you really are to success? For example: it can be very difficult to go anywhere at first as a musician. Or a writer, what do you do while waiting for someone to publish your book? How can you support yourself, much less give to others? Or maybe you want to be an artist, a doctor, an entrepreneur, a chef, a CEO, a filmmaker, an actor...the list goes on and on. Pray to God, ask him where he wants you. These talents are a part of who God made you to be. How does he want you to use them?
Don't settle for a mediocre life. Each and everyone of us is destined for great things. Are you ready to let God use you in ways unimaginable?
