A Jigsaw Puzzle Life

Staring out the window on a long car ride home, I began to think about my life. Outside the window everything reminds me that my life is often a mixed-up, hodge-podge life. Only a few weeks ago, the sight out of the car window would've been vastly different. The rocky red dirt roads, green coconut trees, and  African huts have nothing to do with last month's smooth asphalt, towering buildings, and oak trees. How is this even possible? Why is this possible?

Do you ever feel like your life has too many parts that  don't fit together? That maybe God has given you too many opportunities, and you are split in too many different directions? I have friends and family across oceans, culture from three different continents, and an idea of a future that doesn't line up with anything I've ever done before. How can you make this work, God?  How can my life amount to anything when it's spread out over the whole globe?

Your life is like a jigsaw puzzle, child, except your pieces don't fit together.

The idea of a jigsaw puzzle life can be disappointing. But, I find it comforting. God's little voice inside me whispered, "Your pieces aren't going to make a picture by themselves. They are meant to be played wherever you are."

You are called to make someone else's puzzle a work of art. Life makes sense when you look at the big picture, you just aren't big enough to see. Trust.

What a neat perspective! We are unique combinations of colors, personalities, and gifts, working together to make something beautiful. We are a jigsaw puzzle.
